B i o g r a p h y

Alex Fisher is a freelance musician based in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He is the principal trumpet with the Exaltation Orchestra in Lake Wylie, SC and 4th trumpet with the Union Symphony (NC).  He has performed at the Wells Fargo Blumey Awards in Charlotte, as well as with many acclaimed ensembles including the Asheville Symphony, North Carolina Brass Band, Western Piedmont Symphony, Summer Theatre of Charlotte, Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Adirondack Fellowship Orchestra (NY), Salisbury Symphony, KRVE Band, the Right to Party Band, the Old Courthouse Theatre, the Domaine Forget Brass Choir (Quebec), and many others.  As a recording musician, he can be heard on recordings for the South Carolina Brass Band, Tigerland Brass, and Hinshaw Music.  He was also on the world premiere performance run for the musical Ella's Big Chance: A Jazz Age Cinderella.  

 

He has over a decade of professional trumpet performance experience including pit orchestras for various musicals, rock bands, jazz bands, and orchestral performances.  His talents have allowed him to perform across the country as well as internationally.  Among numerous awards, Mr. Fisher had the honor to perform with the UNC Charlotte Wind Ensemble as a featured soloist in 2011.  He also performed for the opening ceremonies of the BB&T Ballpark for the Charlotte Knights in 2014.  Mr. Fisher performed with the North Carolina Brass Band as part of their "First in Flight" CD release concert series.  As an educator, he has placed many students in all-district and all-state bands and has taught many to love the art of music.  He has taught students of all levels with some continuing into collegiate ensembles.  He has also taught in masterclass settings at universities as a guest clinician.  

 

He holds a Master of Music degree from UNC Greensboro where he studied with Mark Clodfelter and a Bachelor of Music from UNC Charlotte.  His past instructors include Chris Fensom, Mark Clodfelter, Brandon Lee, Michael Sachs, James Watson, Nathaniel Mayfield, Jim Thompson, Manon LaFrance, Trent Sanheim, and Geoff Thompson.
